the maintenance game

A character inside The Maintenance Game.

THE MAINTENANCE GAME is a self-running computer simulation set inside a deteriorating architectural labyrinth. Its inhabitants spend their lives tending to a structure that continually produces new problems. Liquidators scrub contaminated surfaces, Friends prepare for social gatherings, and Planners redraw the organization of a world that refuses to stay organized.

The work unfolds in real time without a player. Small acts of repair become the daily rhythms of a society whose continued existence depends on keeping its failures in motion.

This work is part of ARIA ENGINE, a collection of interconnected installations that can be presented individually or combined into a single immersive environment.
